Trout Fishing in the South of Scotland

Maps and Information on Trout Fishing Lochs and Rivers in Southern Scotland

The south of Scotland, which I have defined, for our purposes, as the area to the south of the Firth of Clyde and Firth of Forth (and to the south of the Forth & Clyde Canal), is perhaps better known for its grand salmon and sea trout rivers, the majestic River Tweed; the Ayrshire rivers Doon, Ayr and Stinchar; or the rivers of the Solway Firth – Border Esk, Annan, Nith and Cree.  Nevertheless, the south of Scotland  has some hidden trout fishing gems. As well as the excellent trout and grayling fishing in the rivers Clyde, Nith, Annan, Tweed and Teviot and many smaller streams, there is some fine loch fishing to be found in the Pentland Hills and the hills of Renfrewshire, Ayrshire and Galloway.
