Trout Fishing in the North of Scotland
Maps and Information on Trout Fishing Lochs in Northern Scotland
The north of Scotland – I have defined this as the whole area north and west of the Great Glen, in the counties of Caithness, Sutherland, Ross and Cromarty and Inverness – is a true fly fisher’s paradise, offering wild brown trout fishing at its very best. There are literally hundreds of lochs to explore, some so remote that the trout inhabiting them will not have seen a fisherman, or a trout fly, in many years. All that you require to reach and fish them is a compass and an Ordnance Survey map, a stout pair of boots, a fly rod and reel and box of flies ….. and maybe a bottle of midgie repellant!
Detailed maps of specific Scottish trout fishing areas can be accessed from the drop-down menus at the top of this website.
Further information, photographs etc. for each area can be viewed at www.trout-salmon-fishing.com (suitable for viewing on larger screens such as desktops). Below is a list of links to the relevant pages for each individual trout fishing centre in northern Scotland, with the focus on loch fishing.
